Chief Historian's Report: New Executive Committee Transition, Part 2
by Commander Eugene Sanford
(Email received on Sunday December 16, 2007)
Monday December 17, 2007
Commander Eugene Sanford received another email from team@sfimembersmatter.org, regarding the new objectives for the incoming EC. With permission from the CS-Elect, this information is available for distribution to share with other fellow fleeters, fellow chapter members, and can be cross-posted to the appropriate lists:
The following objectives have been listed by the new EC assuming office in 2 1/2 weeks after Christmas:
Commander, STARFLEET-Elect: Fleet Admiral Sal Lizard -Has been discussing transition issues with the current EC through ECPrivate-I and have been in contact with Les[Rickard] and Mark [Anbinder] by phone. And my Chief of Staff has been working with Greg Trotter, the current CS-Chief of Staff. All members of the incoming EC should have the appropriate database access to become familiar with the DB tools that they will need when we take our new posts in2 1/2 weeks.
Staffing announcements will include:
Staffing announcements will include:
Public Relations Officer: Jerome Conner, Orientation Officer: Teresa Remaly, and
Personnel Officer: ADM Dennis Gray
Vice Commander, STARFLEET-Elect: Vice Admiral Garrick Halverson - "I am continuing to tweek the organization flow within the VCS Department. One of the difficulties we are encountering is there are many FRC Departments that are either inactive or hidden within STARFLEET itself. We are working on making it easier to locate these departments and are redefined their roles in order to bring more value to the membership. Bran Stimpson is hard at work getting the Help Desk up to speed and the trio of Marlene Miller, Sherry Anne Newell, and Helen Pawlowski are contacting international members and chapters to increase their morale.
My staffing announcements are:
My staffing announcements are:
Policy Advisor: Ron Bishop, Communications Director: Mike Soucy, and
International Charities Director - Alejandro L. Barreiro Agrelo
Chief of Operations-Elect: Vice Admiral Michael Urvand - "I have not received a response back from one member of the current Chapter Care Team. Lucy Ferron has agreed stay aboard, but Mark Hanford regretfully has decided to step down from his post as director. I have someone in mind, but haven't yet contacted him yet. I have conferred with Admiral Michelle Fanelli about her replacement as Head of Correspondence Chapter Operations, and have tendered an offer to someone, but am waiting for a definite acceptance of the appointment before I make an announcement. Kim Donohoe has been working with Commodore Steven Bowers on getting MSR information transferred to her. The Operations Staff has been granted our access into the database and has tested it. So far, so good.
Chief of Communications-Elect: Captain Peter Christian - Peter has received multiple CQ articles from various departments, and continues his efforts to produce the very best CQ STARFLEET ever had.
STARFLEET Academy Commandant-Elect, Admiral Peg Pellerin - The transition is going smooth for the academy due to the lack of any real change or turnover. Peg reports that an article has been submitted to the CQ about upcoming Academy programs.
Chief of Shakedown Operations-Elect: Commodore Warren Price - The transition of information between staff of SHOC is coming along nicely. Contact information was shared between the staff. Jerry and I have worked out how reporting is handled, not just to SFI, but VRR's and what information is needed. Both Jerry and myself will be dividing the VRR Report procedure, each doing some portion of it. Jerry will be making the announcement regarding all mail needs to go to me later near the end of the month. That is about it for now.
Chief of Computer Operations-Elect: Lieutenant Matt Moyer - Plans are in place to receive web access this weekend. I also do have my administrative access to the database, and have been learning the tools, and asking Sal questions when I have them. I can now start getting packages prepared for several departments that need some things taken care of such as the HelpDesk. Once we have the backend access to SFI's server, I have people standing by to help deal with the DB issues. So for now that's about all I have because until I have full access to everything I can not access our current situation, and evaluate our resources to develop action items going forward.
As Chief Historian, I will continue to send more reports on our new incoming EC, along with the progress of my department aboard Top Gun, and the progress of the new regional department that I am currently working on.
Merry Christmas to everyone aboard our elite starship, and may we have many more journeys into the new year.
End Transmission.
Chief Historian's Report: New Executive Committee Transition, Part 1
by Commander Eugene Sanford
Sunday December 15, 2007
Commander Sanford received an email from the CS-Elect. A new link was created by Sal Lizard, the newly-elected Commander, STARFLEET, allowing others to view a new live journal, and invites everyone to express their opinion about Membership Processing. The Chief Historian has forwarded this information to the CO/XO of the Starship Top Gun. The CS-Elect has granted permission for everyone to view this journal. Though this is not official yet, the main objective is to keep everyone informed. The link to this site is: http://sallizard.livejournal.com.
Fleet Captain Dean Rogers, CO of the USS Top Gun, emails everyone about the latest episode of "Starship Farragut." He portrays the helmsman of the Starship Farragut, Ensign Roy Morris. The Chief Historian has viewed this episode, "1A-002, For Want Of A Nail." The CO was in the driver's seat aboard the Farragut. Commander Sanford continued to gather more information on the current RC for records management. The ship's timeline has been upgraded per the birthday announcement of our crewmembers aboard Top Gun. Information has been download and saved on the TG Listserve regarding future camping trips for next year.
Another email was sent from the CS-Elect, Admiral Sal Lizard. He has made his choice for Chief of Staff during the new administration: Vice Admiral Sam Black. Admiral Lizard has been in contact with Les, and has been asked to find someone to replace him as Registered Agent for STARFLEET. That person is Frank Parker, a native of North Carolina. In preparation for his new role, Sam has tendered his resignation as Vice Regional Coordinator of Region Three, the SFA's Academy Scholarship Director, and STARFLEET's Judge Advocate General Officer so that he may focus on his new duties as Chief of Staff.

Sal has also asked Pete Mahoney to stay on as the SFI Quartermaster, and Kris Klufas to remain in the Promotions Director department. He has also consulted with General Mark Anbinder to see if he will remain IC Liason.
The following personnel listed is already filled, or will be announced later per Sal:
The following personnel listed is already filled, or will be announced later per Sal:
Garrick Halverson is the VCS-Elect, and has chosen Bob McCann. Commodore Robert McCann served in STARFLEET Academy as the new Assistant Webmaster. Garrick is bringing the VCS Department up to full speed. Since the election, he has touched basis with his staff, has written job descriptions and has placed Brad Stimpson as the new HelpDesk Administrator. He will continue to use Admiral Marlene Miller to head up the Annual Campaign with Admirals Helen Pawlowski and Sherry Anne Newell. Garrick has already challenged Sal, as he has presented Peter with 5 CQ articles, and Sal still has to write his first one. The next report will have more information on Gary's new department.Vice Admiral Mike Urvand is the new Chief of Operations-Elect, and has chosen Rear Admiral Kim Donohoe as his Vice Chief of Operations. Mike has resigned from his position as the Regional Coordinator for Region Five, to become the Chief of Operations.Captain Peter Christian, Communications Chief-Elect, has chosen William Schnitger as his Vice Chief. From Peter's notes: "There has been quite a bit going on with the Communications transition. Has also exchanged information with Commodore Dixie Halber, and is currently awaiting a list of information from her, as well as several pieces of equipment that must be transferred into his charge. Peter has already started the initial planning stages with Unicorn for issue #145 of the CQ. Will update more in the next couple of days, but submissions are welcomed at peter@trinitydesignconsulting.com, until Unicorn takes charge of thecq@sfi.org address.
Admiral Peg Pellerin, SFA Commandant-Elect, has chosen Admiral Carolyn Thompson, director of SFMC's Marine Unit Readiness Program, and SFA's Vessel Readiness Certification Program. Peg claims to have the easiest transition as Carol Thompson remains in her Vice-Dant position, and Wayne Kilough heads up the Academy Support Services. The Admiral herself states:
"Things were pretty hectic for a few days, but things are smoothing out. I've lost a couple of people, one to Sal, and one to Gary, but we'll have to find someone, and we will, hopefully as good as these two guys took. Wayne, Carol, and myself are working very well in getting things ready for January 1. I'm confident with their assistance, that everything will go well. They're great to work with, and I already feel the team we are and should be."
Commodore Warren Price. Shakedown Operations Chief-Elect, has chosen Rear Admiral Jerry Tien as his Vice-Chief. Admiral Tien was one of several senior officers who was instrumental in finalizing the paperwork for the commissioning of the Starship Top Gun. Like Peg, Warren has a smooth transition, as there is very little staffing changes, and is keeping Joost and Alex in their current roles. Warren has presented a list of SHOC projects, but I haven't yet had an opportunity to read over them.
Lieutenant Matt Moyer, Computer Operations Chief-Elect, has chosen Commodore Robert (Bob) Chin as his Vice-Chief.
"From his last discussion with Matt, I think that he's waiting to make contact with CompOps. He is currently working with Membership Processing to train another team and waiting for access to the database."
Matt's notes indicate:
"I am indeed keenly aware of the DB issues, I've been watching the lists closely. This will definitely be priority one on my list."
Colonel Mike Stein, current Region 7 Chief Financial Officer/CFO-Elect, has chosen Admiral Pat Spillers as his Vice Chief of Finances. Admiral Spillers was the previous CFO of STARFLEET. Mike is in communication with Commodore Liz Woolf, and is working to gain a complete understanding of the financial condition of STARFLEET.

Happy Birthday to Walter!
This video is a little on the pg-13 side for crude humor, but not THAT racey....
Walter, I know you'll enjoy this.
Others... Imagine how much, or how little work this took..
... maybe at some point the Top Gun can make one too.
This was NOT a big budget production.
Happy Birthday to Walter!
