“ONE CRAZY SUMMER OR WHAT IS IC JEOPARDY!”

This is IC 2008 Jeopardy!
Here are the contestants:
A Teacher from Pomona, New York – Keith Shikowitz
A Visiting Lecturer from Ithaca, New York – J.G. Hertzler
and A Real Estate Agent from Upstate New York – Robin Curtis!
And now, here’s the host of IC Jeopardy! Dean Rogers!

Good afternoon all and welcome to another half-hour of answers and questions. I know,I know. Dean, this is the Miramar Times not an audition for Jeopardy! However, Jeopardy played a role in my one crazy summer. It has been the best of times and the worst of times. For this issue, we are going to reflect on the best of times. After all, that’s what life is all about isn’t it? For starters, as you all well know. I am currently a Senior at Bowie State University. The journey has been a great one filled with many opportunities and wonderful times. As time passes, I have begun to wonder about the future. I am not talking about the 24th Century. I am talking about life after college when I get my Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Communications. How does one start their final journey as a college student?

For me, it went a little something like this. The first week of June was the start yours truly being a busy beaver. In my first week, I started my internship at CTV76 on a Tuesday. Within one hour of my arrival, I was called to do a story. I remember it so well. I covered a single dump truck accident in Largo. It would be the first of many stories I covered as a reporter. During that week, I journeyed to Cambridge, MA to see one of our own crew graduates from Harvard Law School. It brought tears to my eye that she and I are in the same class of 2008. We became the best of friends, and we have eBay to thank for that. Late June bought out the Trebekian spirit in me to bring Jeopardy to the International Conference. As you see from the pictures above, it was a grand success. Now I can honestly say, never put a human against a Klingon and a Vulcan in a trivia match ;-)

July brought our fourth year of Top Gun’s existence. During Shore Leave 30, we experienced our rebirth. Plenty of members have returned or joined the Top Gun. I couldn’t be happier. I have high hopes that this is Top Gun’s year to shine. With new spirit, new members and current members, and the same drive that compels us all; Top Gun will set the bar for Region 7 Chapters to come. Alright, we have our mission, let’s get it on!
